The National Cadet Corps is the youth wing of the Indian armed forces which falls under the purview of Ministry of Defense, Government of India and which works to inculcate a spirit of inquisitiveness, discipline, courage, determination, comradeship & leadership leading to the development , self-confidence and team spirit among the vibrant youths of the nation. NCC is open for school, college and university students on voluntary basis. National Cadet Corps is a tri-service organization comprising of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades and they are regimented to a military way of life. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course but are given preference over normal candidates during selections based on the achievements in the corps. The motto of NCC is “Unity & Discipline’’ which was adopted on 23 Dec 1957. In living up to its motto, the NCC strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of the country and moulding them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation.
NCC in Budge Budge College was started in 2019 under a Care Taker Officer (CTO) Dr. Kishor Naskar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics. At present the first year students of our college are enrolled in NCC (SD & SW) under the affiliating and controlling unit 1 (B) Armd Squadron, NCC, Troop/Coy No. 2 Platoons and the controlling group Kolkata- ‘B’. The NCC cadets of Budge Budge College have been actively participating in various National and State Level events of NCC. However, in the year 2021, the NCC in-charge of the college was handed over to Mr. Buddham Tamang, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science as a Care Taker Officer (CTO). Currently, NCC in Budge Budge College is functioning with a sanctioned strength of 100 cadets (SD & SW).
